Who we are

Antigua Con Amor (Antigua with Love) is the name that we gave to our tour operations, because we not only love Antigua, but we especially love to share it with others.

The “we” is David & Bethany Boran. David and Bethany actually met in Antigua Guatemala nearly ten years ago, when David was opening a bakery and Bethany was working on community projects.

Over the previous ten years, David had spent plenty of time in Antigua: learning Spanish; exploring; working with an education-focused NGO; and helping out a local cooperative of coffee farmers, now known as De la Gente.

After David and Bethany moved back to her native Tennessee, and opened a bakery restaurant, they made it a goal to only serve coffee from De la Gente.

As the coffee business grew, and people remarked on how wonderful the coffee was, an idea was born: What if we lead trips to Guatemala, where people can learn about the coffee, meet our coffee farmers, and enjoy the wonderful people and food of the Antigua area?

In July of 2024, the first group of ten guests headed down to Guatemala with David & Bethany. Since then, we’ve been leading two or three trips a year to share our love of De la Gente coffee and their farmers, Antigua, and Guatemala.

After filling the first six trips strictly by word-of-mouth, Antigua Con Amor was created to encapsulate this work, expand where we draw our participants from, and provide a more flexible and customer-friendly booking experience.
